Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day is a national awareness day to be held on 3-3-13. We are asking you, our community and supporters, to plan or join fundraisers and awareness events in each state across the country to take place on (or around) Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day. Events of all sizes are welcome!

I want to hold an event. What do I do?

Great, thank you! You will find our event guidelines at www.tnbcfoundation.org/TNBCday. Read them over, indicate your agreement, and fill out the simple online form with details of your event. We will review your request and approve it within 72 hours. Once your event is approved, we will add it to our TNBC Day map and state-by-state overview, and email you a link to set up your personal event webpage so you can share it with your family and friends.

How should I promote my event?

We're so glad you asked! There is a toolkit of information on our website designed to help you promote your event. It includes printable fact sheets, tips for engaging the press, even a media alert template! Just click on our "Downloads" tab and you're all set! Be sure to remember to call your event by the name you give it - and then state that it is for the benefit of the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation. This is one of the guidelines, and is very important. You will also be able to promote your event to friends and family through your personal event page (described above).

What kind of events are people organizing?

People are launching events for things they are passionate about. So far we have yoga events, lose-your-latte-for-a week events, teas, a softball tournament and receptions. Some people are choosing to support TNBC Day by raising awareness rather than throwing fundraisers. You will find information and ideas about awareness raising possibilities on our website as well. Just click on the "Fundraising and Awareness Raising Ideas" tab to get inspired!

If someone is already doing an event in my state, what should I do?

Please submit your idea! The more, the merrier! In fact, what better way to raise awareness of triple negative breast cancer than to have multiple events in every state? Let's engage as many people as we can to support our TNBC community! We will list all approved events on our website.

What financial or other goal should an event organizer have in mind?

That depends on the type of event you are throwing. TNBC Foundation would love to see at least one event in each of the 50 states! For fundraising events, you may try to set a goal of $1000. For awareness raising events, try to reach as many people as you possibly can and inform them about triple negative breast cancer and the efforts of the TNBC Foundation.

Who is getting involved?

We have patients, survivors, breast cancer organizations, other not-for-profits, and corporations all playing a role. This is going to be HUGE!

Do you have tools to help us publicize our event?

On our website, you will find a media alert template, a press release template, a photo caption release template and tips to get media coverage. We encourage you to Facebook and tweet about your event to spread the word far and wide. Also, please share your photos! Whether you attend an event aimed at raising awareness of triple negative breast cancer or you are throwing an event yourself, take pictures and share them through social media. If posting to Twitter, use the hashtags #TripleNegativeBreastCancerDay and/or #TNBCDay. Let's let the world know about TNBC Day!

How will TNBCF be communicating about Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day?

We have some BIG ideas to get the word out about Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day! If you haven't already done so, please be sure to "Like" us on Facebook. We will be communicating with our community about TNBC Day and we will use Facebook more and more to get the message out. Invite all of your friends to like us too! Also, please follow us on Twitter and Pinterest. We have been stepping up our efforts to engage with our community using all forms of social media. In the months, weeks and days leading up to TNBC Day, we will be using these social media sites to spread the word about triple negative disease and about the various events our community is holding on or around TNBC Day.

Are there any ways to participate that don't involve raising money?

Can I designate the gifts from my event?

No. Money raised from events for Triple Negative Breast Cancer Day will go to our general fund to support the overall mission of the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
