Pam (trip2) is one of the TNBC Foundation's first and most prolific TNBC Talk users. She has reached out to the TNBC community through this website, shared her struggle, and offered hope and encouragement to so many. This is her story:
I am a 60 yr. young homemaker, married with 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren.
I was diagnosed with IDC triple Negative Breast Cancer, in Dec. of 02 and again Feb. of 07. My daughter had just been diagnosed in Jan. of 07 of IDC Breast Cancer, multi focal, with one tumor being triple negative. Although her diagnosis was devastating to me it only made me more determined to research and learn what I could about Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
After I was diagnosed again this year I began to realize something was terribly wrong as most of my family had passed years ago from some form of cancer. All I had left were my sister, her family, my children and grandchildren.
So both of my daughters and myself have been tested and the results were positive for the brca1 mutation for all of us.
The most positive thought I can pull from this year in particular is that my tiny family is much closer now. I have learned my husband has been the best caregiver and friend, right by my side the whole way thru and my family have been a huge support. I'm currently going thru chemotherapy again but have acquired a new hope that something is just around the corner for all of who have triple negative breast cancer.
I didn't always feel that way.
This foundation has given me a ray of sunshine and faith that together as a group we can work together and find what causes this disease. The support on the discussion board has been unbeatable and one of the reasons is that it instills hope in all of us and gives us a bond to work together to find answers and support.
