Marcia

My name is Marcia Humphrey and I am a seven-year breast cancer survivor. In the fall of 2000 at the age of 42 I was diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative lobular breast cancer, lump size 1.5 cm with 2 positive nodes . My cancer was found by accident when a lump that turned out to be benign was taken out, cancer cells were found in the surrounding tissue. I have 3 children and my youngest was only 4 when I was diagnosed.(She will be 12 in March:>) I could not have made it through my diagnosis and six months of treatment without the support of my family, friends and several fellow breast cancer survivors whose continuous encouragement gave me hope. After I recovered from 6 months of chemo and multiple surgeries , I had a great desire to "pay it forward". That is when I came up with the idea to create the Breast Cancer Survivor Pin. God bless the many people who wear the pink ribbon, but I wanted to have a pin that would say to others, I am a survivor. Please read more about my desire to 'pay it forward' on my web site, www.breastcancersurvivorpin.com

I am pleased to see that there is now more research going on to assist with the treatment of triple negative breast cancer because so much of the information we read is about cancers with positive receptors. I applaud you and your web site for your desire to do what you can to help with the fight. If anyone has any questions about my journey or just needs some encouragement please feel free to email me at MEAatVb@aol.com.
