Gina Maisano was diagnosed with triple negative IDC in September of 2001. At that time there was no information whatsoever about estrogen and progesterone receptor negative breast cancer other than the standard line that appeared in every breast cancer book and online resource that read: "Women without estrogen and progesterone receptors have a poor prognosis and die sooner.” This was unacceptable to a young woman who was determined to fight her disease with only one goal in mind: beating it. more >

Leigh Hurst’s breast cancer was not triple negative, but the lessons learned by this survivor and breast health advocate apply to all women. Leigh’s battle with breast cancer led her to launch the Feel Your Boobies Foundation. Feel Your Boobies is a call to action for women young and not-so-young to get in touch with their body and know what is normal for them. Leigh is a woman on a mission to promote a healthy and proactive habit that can save lives. Here is her story: I was diagnosed with breast cancer on April 7, 2004. My name is Marcia Humphrey and I am a seven-year breast cancer survivor. In the fall of 2000 at the age of 42 I was diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative lobular breast cancer, lump size 1.5 cm with 2 positive nodes. My cancer was found by accident when a lump that turned out to be benign was taken out, cancer cells were found in the surrounding tissue. I have 3 children and my youngest was only 4 when I was diagnosed. (She will be 12 in March. :>) I could not have made it through my diagnosis and six months of treatment without the support of my family, friends and several fellow breast cancer survivors whose continuous encouragement gave me hope. more >

This is her story: I am a 60 yr. young homemaker, married with 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren. I was diagnosed with IDC triple Negative Breast Cancer, in Dec. of 02 and again Feb. of 07. My daughter had just been diagnosed in Jan. of 07 of IDC Breast Cancer, multi focal, with one tumor being triple negative. Although her diagnosis was devastating to me it only made me more determined to research and learn what I could about Triple Negative Breast Cancer. more >

Marilyn van Houten RN, MS, CDMS, CCM; owner and consultant of a small case management company in Miami, learned first hand just how important support systems and organizations for breast cancer patients are after being diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, grade 3 triple negative.
