Although great strides have been made with respect to treatment of HER2 positive and hormone receptor positive breast cancer, triple negative breast cancer continues to account for a significant percent of lives claimed by breast cancer each year. There is an urgent need for targeted research and better treatment options for patients with triple negative tumors.

Last year's TNBC Symposium surveyed the current state of basic, translational, and clinical research in the area of triple negative breast cancer. This year's presentations and discussions delved beyond the basic state of the science, exploring the most promising avenues for future research and clinical trial initiatives. Additionally, it gave the participants the opportunity to reach out to their colleagues and establish relationships that will lead to important collaborations in this area.
